Big Agriculture
(under development)
I live in an agricultural area near Sacramento, California. I have a conflicted relationship with big agriculture. Monoculture feeds huge numbers of people economically. I understand their necessity. Production is highly mechanized, field labor is mostly immigrant labor. It's a complex system of food delivery. A lot of the crops are grown for export.
I am always impressed by the massive processing machinery. The silos and machinery can be intimidating, sometimes beautiful, but they are always arresting as they rise out of the landscape.
I try to humanize the scene to make it all more comprehensible.
